The Taotao Tano CNMI Association lauded Senate vice president Pete Reyes for carefully examining the recently passed labor reform bill during the Senate session on Friday and providing language to close loopholes in the original draft of the measure.Taotao Tano president Greg Cruz said they were pleased to see Reyes challenging the contents of House Bill 15-38.“If it where not for senator Reyes, this bill would have passed again with loopholes and flaws in its contents. We applaud and commend Sen. Pete Reyes for he is truly looking out for the best interest of the people and the CNMI as a whole,” he said.Cruz, a House of Representatives candidate, said his group attended the Senate session in support of House Bill 15-38.The 64-page measure, authored by Rep. Cinta Kaipat, seeks to address all the major loopholes and flaws in the current Labor and Immigration policy in the CNMI. Cruz said the bill went through the scrutiny of the Judicial Government and Law Committee chaired by Sen. Paterno Hocog and Sen. Maria Frica Pangelinan and copies were distributed to every other senator and congressmen in the CNMI.“Only this one senator [Reyes] took the time to read sections by sections concluding to 40 amendments pinpointing loopholes and flaws of H.B. 15-38,” said Cruz.He commend the senator for pointing out roughly 40 amendments that, if overlooked, would have still left significant loopholes in the bill. The Senate approved the amended version of the bill; it is now on its way back to the Lower House for approval and passage of the bill. Cruz also commended Sen. Luis Crisostimo for pointing out that the Department of Commerce would not renew the notary public license of any person who is not a citizen or permanent resident after Jan. 1, 2008, instead of 2009.The group also commended Deanne Semier, “who volunteered so many hours in the making and drafting of such an important bill” and the help and input of Federal Ombudsman Jim Benedetto and numerous individuals in the drafting of the reform bill.“We hope that the additional amendments to the H.B.15-38 will be considered by the lower legislative body,” Cruz said, adding that the group is now looking forward to a swift passage of the bill because the immigration system in the CNMI has been getting so much attention from the federal government. “We must all act and work together to clean up our island of all this illegal activities concerning immigration,” he said.

OUR FALLEN HEROES
SAME THING WILL HAPPEN HERE - JUST CHANGE THE NUMBERS
JUST CHANGE THE NUMBERS TO CNMI NUMBERS AND
THE COHEN PLAN WILL HARM THE CNMI IN THE SAME WAY
CURRENT IMMIGRATION POLICIES WILL DAMAGE THE USA.
